The aRC of Completion
Every emotion we experience has a beginning and ending.
When an emotion is interrupted instead of letting the it flow, it leads to discord and chaos within our system. In lived experience, it may feel like a felt sense of being stuck or feeling unresolved.
It is natural for our emotions to be “completed”, which means letting one experience the beginning (onset), the height (middle), and the fizzling out (outset). This can be seen in anyone but especially in children when they are going through a particular emotion such as sadness, joy or anger.
This phenomenon is described in “Waking the Tiger” as a charge that enters our body which needs to be discharged for optimal wellbeing and maintaining allostasis. Imagine how happier the world would be if we allowed others to express their emotions instead of asking them to distract, suppress or dissociate from their felt emotions.
