Many of us experience mental filters that make us feel worse about ourselves, fuel our anxiety, and increase our unhappiness.

Our brains are constantly processing a lot of information.

The brain's main job is to keep us alive, not happy.

To cope with all this information, our brains look for shortcuts.

When looked at closely, these shortcuts can harm our ability to connect with ourselves and others.

We can work together to challenge those negative thoughts, find better ways to connect with our emotions, and gain clarity with a renewed sense of purpose.

I am a practitioner of Coherence Therapy (formerly known as Depth Oriented Brief Therapy) founded by Bruce Ecker and Laurel Hulley. It is rooted in the neurological process of Memory Reconsolidation which renews hope for the future by proving that memories are not the concrete, unchanging, rigid pathways once thought to be.

Dr. Tori Olds defines Coherence therapy as: “A methodology designed to bring our unconscious beliefs or schemas into crystal clear, fully conscious awareness so that those old learnings can be transformed in a way that frees us from the suffering they produce.”

I also rely on other constructivist and experiential modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Somatic Experiencing and Interpersonal Neurobiology to get to the root of your current challenges to achieve lifelong relief.

If you have found other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to be helpful, I am certified in both and we can build upon the progress you’ve already made.

If you are seeking Freudian Psychoanalysis, I will be happy to refer you to some of my brilliant colleagues who have mastered the science of interpretation.

Hi! I'm Samheet Kaur (She/They), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor (LCSW-S) located in Austin, Texas.

I go by Sam!

I specialize in working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, loss, pain, confusion and disconnection from self.

As an individual of Punjabi descent and an immigrant myself, I offer a multicultural perspective that values holistic well-being and evidence-based constructivist modalities while being mindful of your unique racial identity. I am interested in learning about your lived reality and what it means for you to be in it.

I offer transformation of your inner landscape by helping you remove barriers to your rich, joyful life. I hope I am the resource you need to feel better.

1:1 Psychotherapy

I meet with you over HIPAA-secure Telehealth appointments in the comfort of your own space.

First session is 60 minutes long. This entails identifying specific changes you hope to see in your life as a direct result of our work together.

Subsequent sessions are 45 minutes and attended weekly or biweekly (twice/month) depending on your needs. Most clients report feeling less anxious and more hopeful after just 1 session together.

As a follow up to each session, I offer written documentation of important emotional truths which often (if not paid attention to) get lost easily. This allows you to focus on your body and inner emotional process without worrying about “taking notes” for later.

“All human beings should try to learn before they die what they are running from, and to, and why.”
― James Thurber
